Where were you born?
Yorkshire, United Kingdom
How long have you been writing?
As an on and off thing since my kids were little, so around 30 years. Actually putting the stories in my head to use, that would be about 10 years
How did you know you wanted to be a writer?
Since I was a teenager, I knew I wanted to be a horror writer. I wanted to make up stories and be a female version of Stephan King
Do you have a ritual you perform before you start writing?
Do you type, record or write your books out?
The very first draft of a story is hand written! Very old fashioned I know but I need to be away from the laptop/internet with no distractions, so the core of the story can flow without interruptions
What genres do you write?
Fantasy!! I hope some aspects of my stories have a little of everything in them. I’d like to say there’s a little bit of Steampunk in there too
Who or what inspires you to write?
My main inspiration comes from my daughter, Debi Michelle (also an indie author) and my brother John. He wrote articles for White Dwarf Magazine years ago. He also writes sci-fi books that he won’t get published because he thinks they are rubbish!! I have a very supportive family who believe in each other
Are the stories in your head screaming to come out?
Oh yes!! They send me subliminal messages too! From a young age I was taught how to lucid dream, as an adult I have found it easy and quite productive to help me with story lines
What is your writing process? (get ideas out, flesh it up, edit, proof read, publish etc.)
My first step is to bounce my ideas off Debi…One afternoon we sat in my living room and created the magical world of Alhanassa – that’s where my stories are based – We had a matriarchal hierachy sorted out and the magical aspects too.
The next step is to literally put pen to paper! Typing up can take some time as that’s when I’ll do any research and flesh the story out. Then it’s off to Debi for editing. Being new to independent publishing, I haven’t found myself in the financial position to pay for an editor. The proof reading and then publishing comes next. Somewhere thrown into that is getting a cover created
What do you have in the pipeline, in terms of the next book?
I’ve almost finished the first draft of book two in the Sisterhood trilogy. I’m hoping to release it in 2019 (a long time I know, but I’d rather have a realistic goal than one I have to keep altering)
For the readers that are not familiar with your work, what have you written?
A short introduction story to the world of Alhanassa called Bodelia’s Anguish, which is a free download from Smashwords/iBooks/B&N and Kobo.
The fury of a goddess betrayed is about to be unleashed on those she once loved. Will Alhanassa, the world she created, survive? Will the Immortal Council be able to sway her desire for revenge? The exciting prologue to a gripping new series.
Alhannasa, a land of beauty and diversity, created by the Most High Goddess, Bodelia. She planned that her ‘children’ those which will inhabit the world she’d made, would rule the land now the time had come for her to leave. The Immortal Council grew restless with her long absence, she knew her duty could be delayed no longer. Yet she wouldn’t completely abandon that which she had made. She would leave the Lesser Goddesses, her sisters, to watch over Alhanassa. With the aid of their magic, the mortals would surely flourish.
But even the plans of a Goddess are no match for evil. When an act of betrayal shatters Bodelia’s heart, will she be able to control the need for revenge? Or will the inhabitants of Alhanassa suffer the dire consequences of her wrath. An enthralling new series filled with action, magic, lust and love!
In March, I released a Dark Magic Rising – the Sisterhood Trilogy Book One, that is also available at the usual ebook retailers and Amazon

Follow Lynwen and her colleagues as they try to unfold the mystery of the one who allegedly, will reunite the divided nations. They discover the fallen god who plans to wreak havoc on their world. Lynwen fast realises that magic is no match for this new foe and the reunifying of their people will have to wait. Romance flourishes amid a battle for their lives as the beasts created by the fallen god tear their newly formed trust apart and send them hurtling into a trap. Will this new found unity be enough to save them all?
There was a strained peace between the Torian and Leian people but Lynwen belongs to neither side. An ancient mandate to protect Alhanassa’s vast knowledge places her in a precarious position as she is thrown into a group of mixed nationalities. However, overcoming the diversity within their small company forges friendships Lynwen will never forget.
Lynwen’s life in The Clar’han Order was simple and uncomplicated by romantic relationships but being away from The Order gave her the opportunity to seek out a little male companionship. Kendrich shares Lynwen’s passion for history, he is mysterious and charming, where Captain Colbon is hot-headed and arrogant. The prospect of figuring these two men out lighten her journey.
The expedition to the Northern Islands needs a Clar’han sister to oversee any information found and to secure artefacts for the benefit of all, not just one nation, but Lynwen is anxious from the start. One of the group members misleads her to believing she is important to their cause when in reality, just like the others, she is expendable. They battle the harsh terrain and the bitter cold of the season as well as the relentless beasts of a fallen god. An underhanded agenda to their trip puts them all in danger. Secrets and lies never end well.
